Purpose of the course

The purpose of the qualification is to ensure competent professional driving competence in the road transport sector, thus improving earning capacity of professional drivers as well as transport sector professionalism and economic growth.

Learning Programme 1: Communications

• Accommodate audience and context needs in oral/signed communication
• Use language and communication in occupational learning programmes
• Interpret and use information from texts
• Write/present/sign texts for a range of communicative contexts

Learning Programme 2: Mathematics

• Demonstrate an understanding of the use of different number bases and measurement units and an awareness of error in the context of relevant
• Describe, apply, analyze and calculate shape and motion in 2-and 3-dimensional space in different contexts
• Investigate life and work-related problems using data and probabilities
• Use mathematics to investigate and monitor the financial aspects of personal, business and national issues

Learning Programme 3: Driving Requirements

• Meet the requirements in order to obtain a provisional license
• Meet the requirements of being a safe driver to obtain a valid driving license for a motor vehicle

Learning Programme 4: Road Transport Service Delivery and Customer Services

• Plan road transport service delivery
• Manage time effectively to enhance productivity and enable a balanced lifestyle
• Foster and maintain customer relations
• Provide commuter services

Learning Programme 5 : Health and Safety

• Maintaining occupational health, safety and general housekeeping
• Apply knowledge of HIV/AIDS to a specific business sector and a workplace
